What size sleeping bag should I get?

Sleeping bags come in various temperature ratings and sizes. The most important factor is choosing a bag rated for the lowest temperature you expect to encounter. Manufacturers provide temperature ratings that indicate the comfort range for the average user. For fit, sleeping bags are typically available in regular and long lengths, as well as different widths to accommodate different body types.

Do I need a sleeping pad?

Yes, a sleeping pad serves two essential purposes: it provides cushioning for comfort and, more importantly, it insulates you from the cold ground. Even in summer, the ground can draw heat away from your body, making a sleeping pad a critical piece of gear for a good night’s rest.

What is the difference between entry-level and professional-grade gear?

Entry-level gear is designed for casual campers who camp in milder conditions and at established campsites. It offers good value and adequate performance for most recreational use.
